Natural gas futures rallied sharply this week, pushing past previous resistance ahead of weekend cold. Model runs suggesting another shot of below-normal air in key population centers beyond the two-week period also helped support pricing ahead of the weekend. Meanwhile, the storage surplus to year-ago levels has been nearly fully evaporated, and LNG export demand hit a new record high above 15 Bcf per day on Friday, with the Plaquemines liquefaction terminal ramping up operations.
