Natural gas prices remain largely rangebound, but the market continues to face a generally softer fundamental backdrop as the summer winds down. Storage inventories have expanded to nearly 200 Bcf above the five-year average, while recent heat has failed to generate the level of gas-fired power demand seen during comparable periods in past summers. At the same time, domestic production is showing renewed signs of growth, with several recent daily estimates approaching 113 Bcf per day. Lingering heat across Texas and the Southeast should keep near-term demand elevated, while LNG exports are expected to recover and potentially reach new highs this fall and winter. For now, healthy inventories and improving production are helping offset that expected export growth, keeping downward pressure on the forward curve and Winter 2026–27 prices near multi-year lows.
