Natural gas plunges to new lows as the market looks beyond winter.

Natural gas futures have fallen to multi-year lows as the market increasingly prices out meaningful balance-of-winter risk. A mild start to January and record domestic production have reduced near-term demand and pushed the forward curve lower, even as LNG exports remain strong. While storage inventories briefly widened their deficit to year-ago levels, that gap appears temporary given how extreme last January’s cold was and how unlikely a repeat looks this winter.
