The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported a weekly injection of 96 Billion Cubic Feet (Bcf) in Lower 48 natural gas storage inventories for the week ending June 20, 2025 (Link). Total inventories now stand at 2,898 Bcf, 196 Bcf (6.3%) below year-ago levels and 179 Bcf (6.6%) above the 2020-2024 average for the same week.
The EIA reported yet another strong storage build relative to historical benchmarks. The 95 Bcf added to underground inventories for the week ended June 20 came in well ahead of the year-ago and five-year average build, which were 59 and 79 Bcf, respectively. As a result, the deficit to year-ago inventories shrunk to less than 200 Bcf for the first time since late January, while the surplus to the five-year average swelled to its highest point since the first week of 2025.
