Natural Gas Storage: +76 Bcf
Injection lands nearly in line with the five-year average and lower than last year.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported a weekly injection of 76 billion cubic feet (Bcf) into Lower 48 natural gas storage inventories for the week ending June 19, 2026 (Link). Total inventories now stand at 2,835 Bcf, 49 Bcf (1.7%) below year-ago levels and 152 Bcf (5.7%) above the 2021-2025 average for the same week.
This morning’s storage report showed a net build of 76 Bcf into U.S. inventories. The injection was virtually in line with the five-year average of 75 Bcf for the same week, while again lagging the corresponding week in 2025 by a significant margin. Year-ago inventories increased by 96 Bcf, meaning the deficit to that benchmark widened by 20 Bcf. Over the past nine weeks, storage builds have lagged 2025 by an average of 3 Bcf per day, illustrating the tighter underlying fundamental balance compared to the same period last year. Stocks are now 49 Bcf behind year-ago levels, while sitting 152 Bcf above the five-year average.
