Storage injection falls in line with market forecasts, landing near historical benchmarks.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported a weekly injection of 74 Billion Cubic Feet (Bcf) in Lower 48 natural gas storage inventories for the week ending October 24, 2025 (Link).  Total inventories now stand at 3,882 Bcf, 29 Bcf (0.8%) above year-ago levels and 171 Bcf (4.6%) above the 2020-2024 average for the same week.

This morning’s announced 74-Bcf build brought storage inventories to nearly 3.9 Tcf with 2-3 additional net injections likely before the scales tip to weekly withdrawals. The build came up just shy of the year-ago benchmark of 79 Bcf, while modestly outpacing the five-year average for the same week of 67 Bcf. As a result, the surplus to each historical benchmark was not materially changed, with inventories entering the final stages of the injection season virtually in line with year-ago levels and at a surplus of 171 Bcf to the five-year average.
