Natural Gas Storage: +73 Bcf
Storage builds continue to lag year-ago levels.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported a weekly injection of 73 billion cubic feet (Bcf) into Lower 48 natural gas storage inventories for the week ending June 12, 2026 (Link). Total inventories now stand at 2,759 Bcf, 29 Bcf (1.0%) below year-ago levels and 151 Bcf (5.8%) above the 2021-2025 average for the same week.
Today’s EIA storage report showed a net addition of 73 Bcf into natural gas inventories. The build was exactly in line with the five-year average for the same week, while lagging the year-ago injection. This continues the trend that has been in place for most of the injection season so far, with stocks maintaining a mostly steady surplus to the five-year average while losing ground to 2025. Since April 10, storage levels have grown by 799 Bcf, compared to 944 Bcf over the same stretch a year earlier. Over that period, inventories have flipped from a 142-Bcf surplus versus 2025 to a 29-Bcf deficit as of June 12.
