Natural Gas Storage: +59 Bcf
EIA data shows storage build outpacing historical benchmarks.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported a weekly injection of 59 billion cubic feet (Bcf) from Lower 48 natural gas storage inventories for the week ending April 10, 2026 (Link). Total inventories now stand at 1,970 Bcf, 126 Bcf (6.8%) above year-ago levels and 108 Bcf (5.8%) above the 2021-2025 average for the same week.
The EIA reported a net increase of 59 Bcf in underground natural gas inventories for the first full week of April. The build came in stronger than the same week in 2025, as well as the five-year average, increasing the surplus to both benchmarks. Every region saw a net injection for the week, with the most significant build observed in the South Central, where Salt storage increased by 17 Bcf and Nonsalt by 15 Bcf. Mountain and Pacific inventories maintain a historically wide gap above average levels, while all other areas are much closer to historical norms.
