Natural Gas Storage: +41 Bcf
Build lags historical benchmarks and falls in line with expectations.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported a weekly injection of 41 billion cubic feet (Bcf) into Lower 48 natural gas storage inventories for the week ending July 10, 2026 (Link). Total inventories now stand at 3,024 Bcf, 21 Bcf (0.7%) below year-ago levels and 181 Bcf (6.4%) above the 2021-2025 average for the same week.
After three straight weeks of materially exceeding expectations, today’s storage report showed a 41-Bcf injection that was roughly in line with consensus forecasts. The build came in marginally lighter than historical benchmarks for the same week, widening the deficit to 2025 by 6 Bcf and narrowing the surplus to the five-year average by 4 Bcf. This represents the smallest net injection since late March, during the initial phase of the injection season.
