Natural Gas Storage: +36 Bcf
Inventories post net build for the final full week of March.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported a weekly injection of 36 billion cubic feet (Bcf) from Lower 48 natural gas storage inventories for the week ending March 27, 2026 (Link). Total inventories now stand at 1,865 Bcf, 96 Bcf (5.4%) above year-ago levels and 54 Bcf (3.0%) above the 2021-2025 average for the same week.
After a net withdrawal during the previous week, U.S. natural gas inventories grew during the week ended March 27, with a 36-Bcf build. The lion’s share of the net addition came in the South Central region, which experienced minimal cooling needs during the report week. Other areas saw small builds or marginal draws from underground stocks. The build came in slightly stronger than the 30 Bcf added during the same week in 2025 and contrasted with a 4-Bcf draw in the five-year average. This led to an expansion of the relatively slim surplus to each benchmark, with stocks ending the traditional winter season 54 Bcf above the five-year average and 96 Bcf above year-ago levels.
