The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported a weekly injection of 29 Billion Cubic Feet (Bcf) in Lower 48 natural gas storage inventories for the week ending March 28, 2025 (Link). Total inventories now stand at 1,773 Bcf, 491 Bcf (21.7%) below year-ago levels and 80 Bcf (4.3%) below the 2020-2024 average for the same week.
Underground natural gas stocks increased by 29 Bcf during the week ended March 28. This marks the third consecutive net injection into inventories during a time where storage levels are typically still falling. As of March 7, storage levels were as 628 Bcf behind last year and 230 Bcf behind the five-year average. Those deficits were narrowed considerably in the following three weeks, with stocks now less than 500 Bcf behind year-ago levels and just 80 Bcf south of the five-year average.
