Natural Gas Storage: +108 Bcf
EIA announces the largest build so far this season.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported a weekly injection of 108 billion cubic feet (Bcf) into Lower 48 natural gas storage inventories for the week ending June 5, 2026 (Link). Total inventories now stand at 2,686 Bcf, 5 Bcf (0.2%) below year-ago levels and 151 Bcf (6.0%) above the 2021-2025 average for the same week.
This morning’s storage report showed a 108-Bcf build that came in above consensus market expectations and well above the five-year average build of 95 Bcf. The announced injection for the week ended June 5 expanded the surplus to the five-year average to 151 Bcf while keeping inventories virtually on par with year-ago levels. Stocks increased by 110 Bcf during the corresponding week last year. The cushion to the five-year average is back near its April highs, with storage growth largely keeping pace with that benchmark over the past six weeks.
