Natural Gas Market Note | 07.24.2026
Prices give up ground ahead of the weekend as sideways trading continues.
Natural gas prices gave back some ground Friday, failing to maintain the modest upward momentum that had developed over the past few sessions. August NYMEX fell $0.04 to $2.87 per MMBtu and finished the week down by the same amount, while the balance of summer was essentially unchanged week over week. Despite Friday’s softer trade, the winter strip held onto a solid weekly gain, with Winter ’26–’27 finishing at $3.65, up $0.10 from last Friday.
The broader picture remains largely unchanged heading into the weekend. Stronger summer demand and tighter storage injections have helped establish some support, but the front of the curve has still struggled to generate a sustained move higher. For now, the front of the curve continues to look comfortable trading below $3.00, even as firmer winter pricing suggests somewhat greater concern further into the future.
